Proprietary BIM Coordination Process
Wesbuilt is one of the few mid-sized general contractors in the U.S. to offer full in-house BIM modeling during both pre-construction and construction phases. Our proprietary process uses intelligent 3D coordination to drive efficiency, eliminate field conflicts, and reduce costly rework across all project types.
Through this coordination process, comprehensive BIM models are created using high-accuracy 3D scans of the site. This allows systems to be designed, tested, and coordinated virtually before construction begins—bridging the gap between design intent and field execution.
Scan-to-BIM: High-Accuracy Laser Scanning
Existing conditions are captured via terrestrial 3D laser scanning, which Wesbuilt executes concurrently with reality capture leveraging Matterport and OpenSpace platforms. These scans generate high-resolution point cloud and 3D Mesh data to create a digital twin of the space. Using Autodesk, our BIM team produces accurate 2D and 3D models that meet USIBD LOA standards, significantly reducing fieldwork and design errors.
Modeling & Visualization
We develop LOD 300–500 models in Revit and AutoCAD to guide the entire build—from spatial planning and MEP integration to logistics and phasing. These models are further enhanced with 3D renderings, animations, and 4D simulations using tools such as Twinmotion, Navisworks, and Fuzor, enabling stakeholders to visualize the design, secure faster approvals, and ensure alignment prior to construction.
Clash Detection & 3D Coordination
Navisworks is used to combine point cloud data, architectural models, and shop drawings to identify and resolve clashes during pre-construction. Hard clashes are flagged and addressed collaboratively, ensuring integrated architectural, structural, and MEP systems before fieldwork begins. This process improves constructability, minimizes rework, and increases schedule reliability.
Reality Capture & Project Documentation
Weekly OpenSpace walkthroughs provide a real-time, visual record of jobsite progress linked directly to Procore. These 360° captures are used to verify conditions against the 3D model, supporting planning, sequencing, and accuracy. At closeout, a Facility Asset Model—a fully navigable digital environment tagged with submittals and product data—is delivered to the owner for efficient facility management.
